Archaeologists found Fabrics Dating Back to Kings David and Solomon
Israeli Archaeologists have found fragments of 3,000-year-old fabrics, seeds & leather dating to the era of King David and Solomon. Probably this was the first time where archaeologists found textiles dating from 10th century B.C thus providing physical evidence once again that King David and Solomon ruled Israel 3,000 years ago.
This Excavation was carried out in southern Israel by the team from Tel Aviv University Excavation headed by lead archaeologist, Erez Ben-Yosef at the ancient copper mines of Timna as the history says this mines are known to be King Solomon’s mines.
The Textiles they found are clothing , tents, ropes, cords and bags. They were thankful about Timna’s extreme dry conditions. Ben-Yosef said that the fabrics that they found vary widely in wavering style, ornamentation and color helps them to provide new information of Edomites, the descendants of Esau who often mined in Timna while fighting against Israelites.
Ben-Yosef continued saying, the fabric was done by highly skilled craftsman managing the copper furnaces, they smelted the copper which was a complicated process. Vanessa, a member of Excavation team said that Hebrew Bible have lot of references to fabrics and dyes. “Blue colors and green colors and red colors and what the high priest wore, the tabernacles.
