Oddu Cheri Nee Yedhuta is one of the popular Telugu Christian song translated from english hymn, Must I go and empty handed written by American Christian journalist, evangelist & baptist minister, Charles Carroll Luther (1847 – 1924) and music composed by George Coles Stebbins (1846-1945). This was later translated to telugu by unknown artist and it was added into the list of Andhra Kraistava Keerthanalu.

Charles Carroll Luther wrote about 30 hymns. In 1877, he heard Rev. A.G. Upham relate the story of a young man who was about to die. He’d only been a Christian for just a month and was sorrowed because he’d had so little time to know, understand & to serve the Lord. But the young man said, “I am not afraid to die; Jesus saves me now. But must I go empty handed?” This incident prompted Charles Carroll Luther to write this hymn and it was first published in Gospel Hymns No. 3, 1878.
